If This is True...Then God Isn't Afraid of My Questions
Doubt often feels like the opposite of faith—but the story of Thomas in John 20 shows us something different. Sometimes doubt is actually the beginning of deeper faith.
After watching Jesus be crucified, Thomas struggled to believe the reports that Jesus was alive. He wasn’t being rebellious—he was grieving and trying to make sense of something unimaginable.
What’s remarkable is how Jesus responds. He doesn’t shame Thomas for questioning. Instead, Jesus moves toward him, invites him closer, and shows him the evidence.
Thomas’ response becomes one of the strongest declarations of faith in the entire Gospel: “My Lord and my God.”
Throughout Scripture, we see people wrestling with God—David, Job, Habakkuk, and Jacob all asked hard questions. Their doubts weren’t hidden; they were preserved in the Bible.
God isn’t intimidated by honest questions. In fact, the path to deeper faith often begins with the courage to ask them.
